摘要

•Flower or leaf-like CuO were obtained via one-step chemical precipitation route.•Prepared CuO showed excellent catalytic degradation properties of methylene blue.•Effect of bath temperature and NH4OH content on properties of CuO was studied.•The rate constant and activation energy were studied for the discoloration process.
