Characteristics of spray and wall wetting under flash-boiling and non-flashing conditions at varying ambient pressures

•The different spray morphology shapes and impingement process in a wide range of ambient pressures were investigated.•The specific evaporation rate of the deposited fuel in different pressures was analyzed.•The influence of high pressures on film distribution and evaporation rate after impingement were opposite.
