Efficiency Evaluation Of Si-Based And Gan-Based Interleaved Buck/Boost Converters For Energy Storage Systems

摘要
The bidirectional interleaved Buck/Boost converter are widely used in energy storage systems. GaN-based power devices can be applied in this topology to improve its efficiency and power density because they can be working in higher frequency. This paper presents an efficiency evaluation of Si-based and GaN-based interleaved Buck/Boost converter with an experiment. The experimental results show the GaN-based prototype efficiency reaches 97.8% at 300kHz, which is higher than a prototype with Si-based power devices with 9.2 percentage points, due to GaN MOSFETs has smaller interelectrode capacitor than Si MOSFETs.
