摘要
•Effect of hard and soft interlayers on crack driving force is calculated numerically for a brittle polymer matrix.•The material inhomogeneity effect results in 7 times higher fracture toughness of brittle polymer experimentally.•Improvement of fracture toughness is numerically predicted using cohesive zone modelling.
