•Fabrication of curcumin-loaded gelatin nanofibers using a non-toxic solvent•Nanofibers mats were prepared with varying the crosslinker percentage.•The rate of curcumin release was affected by the crosslinking density of fibers.•Fiber and mats displayed efficient cell migration in fibroblast and cancerous cell lines.•Promising anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activity for wound healing application.
