•Slow walkers/unable to walk were associated with increased mortality after transcatheter aortic valve implantation.•No subgroup difference between studies using distance- and time-limited walk tests.•Combining studies with 1-year follow-up did not alter the result.•Pooling studies with adjusted estimates did not change the result.
