Context matters: Using mixed methods timelines to provide an accessible and integrated visual for complex program evaluation data.

•Complex and context sensitive evaluations require new ways to present data effectively.•We describe a method for presenting mixed methods data in one cohesive visual.•Mixed methods timelines (MMTs) visualize multiple influences on program outcomes together over time.•MMTs display evaluation data with data on program activities, as well as internal and external context.•Timeline narratives combine data to tell a story and provide a way to integrate details that cannot be visualized.
