摘要

•The present study is first to assess left atrial sphericity in a significant number of control subjects.•LA sphericity did not differ between AF patients and controls.•Thoracic constraints rather than the presence of AF determine LA sphericity.•This study suggests that LA sphericity is unsuitable as a marker of AF-related atrial remodeling.
