Choosing an optimal headrest for preventing postoperative alopecia - A manikin study.

•The contact pressure between the head and headrest may contribute to the occurrence of postoperative alopecia.•The contact pressure between a manikin's head and five tested headrests were recorded for 4 h using CONFORMat System sensor.•Of the five different materials headrests we examined, the memory foam headrest provides the lowest contact pressure.
