Spatial and temporal distribution characteristics and ozone formation potentials of volatile organic compounds from three typical functional areas in China.

•Characteristics of VOCs at three different functional areas were assessed.•The dominant category of VOCs is NVOCs at GETDD site, in which C4H11N is main VOCs.•OVOCs is the most abundant category both at HEMC and PYC sites.•OFP at GETDD site was the highest, but it also cannot be ignored at HEMC site.
