摘要

•An isomer (EE) of bombykol (EZ) was found in the pheromone gland (PG) of Bombyx mori.•More than 104-fold of EE than EZ was needed to evoke courtship responses from males.•Knockout of the EZ receptor BmOR1 abolished antennal and behavioral responses to EE.•At markedly high doses, EE evokes these responses via incidental activation of BmOR1.
