Relationship of volumetric bone mineral density by quantitative computed tomography with abdominal aortic calcification.

•The prevalence and severity of abdominal aortic calcification (AAC) is low in the Chinese population.•Volumetric bone mineral density (vBMD) is independently associated with AAC in men.•The association between vBMD and AAC is not significant in women.•The significant association between vBMD and moderate-to-severe AAC in women should be explored further.
