•Sleep quality was reduced in the patients with acromegaly.•Sleep quality was initially worse after transnasal surgery and then improved.•The application of soluble gauze is related to reduction of sleep quality after surgery.•Anxiety, depression, and stigma correlate with the reduction in sleep quality.
