Urbanization increases biotic homogenization of zooplankton communities in tropical reservoirs

•Rapid urbanization enhances anthropogenic effect on reservoir ecosystems.•Environmental homogeneity increase similarity of zooplankton community.•Low beta-diversity between two location classes appears in all the observed seasons.•Chla as an indication of food supply significantly explained dry community variation.
