Crustal structure of western Tibet revealed by Lg attenuation tomography

•Lateral LgQ model at 1 Hz is constructed for western Tibet.•The spatial Lg attenuation varies distinctly with different geological boundaries.•The LgQ0 map provides a new insight to the presence of underthrusting Indian plate in the western Tibet.•The LgQ0 map reveals that the western Tibet may differ from eastern Tibet in terms of geo-tectonic features.
