X-Band Slot Antenna Array In Air-Filled Substrate Integrated Waveguide

In this paper a planar slot antenna array is designed on air-filled-substrate-integrated-waveguide (AFSIW) at the operating frequency of 10 GHz. Its advantages are high efficiency, simple fabrication light weight and integrability with active circuits. A planar AFSIW slot array antenna is designed with 8 x 10 slots and a feed system composed of a tapered microstrip, an SIW-to-AFSIW transition and 1-to-8 planar power divider. The achieved E- and H-plane 3 dB bandwidths are 8 and 9 degrees, respectively. The side lobe levels in the two E and H planes are equal to 17 dB. The gain and total efficiency are 25.6 dB and 91 %, respectively.
