Numerical investigation of naphthalene deposition dynamics during CO2 leakage

•Dissolved naphthalene is transported with the equilibrium concentrations in CO2 leakage.•Naphthalene could precipitate to solid particles and deposit to form the local blockage.•Precipitation and deposition process depends upon the thermodynamic partitioning and the pore structure of leakage pathway.•Naphthalene as a representative show the potential transport characteristics of certain organic contaminants.
