Oxidation study of porous metal substrates for metal supported proton ceramic electrolyzer cells

•Ferritic stainless steel has been processed as porous sheets for metal supported cells.•Oxidation kinetics has been continuously monitored isothermally by thermogravimetry.•Corrosion resistance has been evaluated in air and 2.5 %H2O/5 %H2/Ar at 600–800 °C.•The perovskite coated samples have shown improved corrosion resistance.
