摘要
With the upcoming commercialization of the fifth generation (5G) mobile communication system, more and more base stations (BSs) will be deployed in urban areas and consume a large amount of energy. Hence, in order to study how to reduce BS energy consumption and provide the larger connectivity range, we present a measurement and modeling campaign of the urban macro-cellular (UMa) scenario in this paper. The channels were sounded at 3.5 and 28 GHz with the maximun horizontal distance of 240 meters, in a modern residential area. The transmitter (TX) was equipped with two antennas and was fixed on the roof of a building with 68 meters heigh, which was regarded as a BS. The receiver (RX) was installed on a cart to emulate a mobile user equipment (UE). Based on the measurement data, we propose the statistical channel model for the large-scale fading and analyze the channel characteristics in the C and millimeter wave (mmWave) bands in this UMa environment. Furthermore, we derive and evaluate the channel capacity per unit bandwidth based on our channel measurement results and model. This work provides a better knowledge of the UMa channels at sub-6G and mmWave frequency bands and guidance for the energy-efficient deployment for the 5G network coverage.
