Mutli-Radio Rapid Handover Technology in Underground Mine Wireless Communication Networks

In underground mine, wireless networks usually use multi-hop chain topology. When a mobile station roams in it, the station switches from one access point to next access point to maintain the data communication. Generally, the communication delay and packet loss affect the movement operational equipment's real-time monitoring and controlling. In this paper, we proposed a multi-radio based rapid handover technology (MRRH) in underground mine wireless communication networks, it reduces the handover latency by optimizing the channel scanning process and redundant radio accessing. Test results show that MRRH can meet the underground mines' quality of service (QoS) requirement by reducing the channel scanning time and handover latency.
