Theory of Horizontal Dipole Over a Dielectric-Coated Impedance Surface

A horizontal electric dipole antenna located above a dielectric-coated impedance surface is characterized. The generalized reflection coefficient is evaluated using the impedance boundary condition. The Sommerfeld integral equation is dissociated into particular and homogeneous parts using the method of scattering superposition. The particular term is recast into the Richmond's form and the DCIM with GPOF technique is used to obtain the closed form of the homogeneous Green's function. The variation in the dipole current distribution with change in the real and imaginary parts of the surface impedance is thereafter obtained. The reflection coefficient and the radiation pattern are also evaluated.
