A 10W Broadband Power Amplifier with a Hairpin Resonator Filter Based on Even-Odd Mode Impedance Analysis

A high-efficiency power amplifier (PA) in cascade with the hairpin resonator microstrip bandpass filter (HRMBF) is analyzed in this paper. Even and odd mode analysis is used to design the parallel-coupled microstrip lines. This filter gives an insertion loss of <; 1.5 dB and a return loss of >10 dB across an operating bandwidth. Hence the proposed configuration is relatively easy to analyze because of its reduced microstrip structure; this configuration provides both high bandpass response and good PA performance across 2.2-2.7 GHz with 39.8-40.98 dBm maximum output power and 59.87%-71.45% drain efficiency (DE).
