Spiral Asymmetric Stripline Structure for Fast Microwave Heating

The work presented in this paper is focused on developing an electro-thermal transductor aimed to help those medical staff, scientists and engineers that require to heat up small amounts of material to obtain highly accurate temperature patterns in a controlled way, in the shortest possible time and with the higher possible energy efficiency. To achieve such a challenging goal, this work explores the feasibility of using an asymmetric stripline structure that uses a lossy substrate to efficiently transform electromagnetic energy in the 2.45 GHz ISM microwave band into heat.
