•A new power allocation strategy using artificial potential field is proposed.•Cutoff frequency is regulated adaptively with state-of-charge limitations satisfied.•A feed-forward compensator is designed to reduce dc-link fluctuations.•Li-ion battery durability and power balance of supply/demand are improved.•The proposed methods are verified through experimental tests.
