Association between CYP2A6 genotypes and smoking behavior in Lebanese smokers

•In decreasing order of frequency, healthy adult Lebanese smokers carry the CYP2A6*9, *12, *2 and *4 allele variants.•The majority of our study subjects are slow metabolizers.•Slow metabolizers smoke a lower number of CPD and have higher NM levels in their serum than intermediate metabolizers.•CYP2A6 polymorphisms are not correlated with nicotine dependence scores or quitting behavior.
