摘要

•Pd/Ni/Ni(OH)2/C is with novel nanostructure of Pd island-on-Ni/Ni(OH)2 nanoparticles.•Pd/Ni/Ni(OH)2/C has excellent catalytic performance for furfural hydrogenation due to nano-synergy effect.•Pd/Ni/Ni(OH)2/C has high selectivity to furfuryl alcohol at quite low temperatures (5 °C or 10 °C).•The Pd/Ni/Ni(OH)2/C catalyst is also very stable.
