•4-Boc piperidone chalcones are prepared to investigate their anticancer properties.•4-Boc piperidone chalcones are characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and melting point.•4-Boc piperidone chalcones significantly increase the anticancer activity.•4-Boc-piperidone chalcones induce apoptosis possibly through the inhibition of NFKB.•4-Boc-piperidone chalcones decrease cellular proliferation and nuclear NFkB activity.
