Health-related quality of life and the burden of prolonged seizures in noninstitutionalized children with epilepsy.

•Data on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in children with epilepsy are limited.•HRQoL was assessed by children themselves, their parents/guardians, and clinicians.•Factors that may predict poor HRQoL were investigated.•HRQoL was very poor in many children who experienced prolonged acute convulsive seizures.•Learning disability was the most powerful predictor of HRQoL.
