Clinical profile and comparison of scoring tools for the prediction of in-hospital mortality in convulsive status epilepticus in elderly.

•A trustworthy tool for prognosis of CSE in elderly is needed for prompt therapeutic intervention•Stroke was commonest cause of CSE in elderly (48.2% %) and also associated with high mortality•Other significant mortality predictor was lack of response to first line treatment•EMSE-EAL-40 is superior to STESS-3 for prediction of in-hospital mortality.•Especially where continuous video- EEG monitoring is unavailable
