Role of miR-199a-5p in osteoblast differentiation by targeting TET2.

•MiR-199a-5p could target TET2 in human BMSCs.•MiR-199a-5p promoted the osteoblast differentiation of hBMCSs by targeting TET2.•OVX mice had severe reduction in miR-199a-5p and increment in TET2 in bone tissues.•MiR-199a-5p elevated BMD and BV/TV ratio of OVX mice by targeting TET2.•MiR-199a-5p showed a therapeutic effect on the osteoporosis by targeting TET2.
