Many countries rely on hospitals to provide the majority of their emergent and critical care. However, this healthcare delivery model is imperfect and leads to overcrowding, excessive wait times, and delays in diagnosis and treatment. Moreover, certain patients, such as those living in rural areas, may not be able to access timely hospital-based care at all.
