Postoperative outcomes in elderly patients undergoing pancreatic resection for pancreatic adenocarcinoma: A systematic review and meta-analysis

•Postoperative overall complication, in particular, respiratory complications, were higher in the elderly group.•Major surgical complications and length of hospital stay were similar between the elderly and non-elderly group.•Postoperative mortality was similar between both groups.•Subgroup analysis revealed that postoperative mortality in the elderly group has improved over time.•Pancreatic resection of pancreatic adenocarcinoma can be performed safely on elderly patients.
