Mass transfer with reaction kinetics of the biocatalytic membrane reactor using a fouled covalently immobilised enzyme layer (α–CGTase–CNF layer)

•Cellulose nanofiber (CNF) was successfully used in enzyme immobilisation.•Covalently immobilised enzyme was successfully applied to a biocatalytic membrane reactor via fouling technique.•A resistance layer blocking model (i.e. layer mass limit) was employed.•Enzymatic reaction parameter, kcat influenced significantly on the permeate flux and other profiles.
