Perfluoro-3-ethyl-2,4-dimethyl-3-pentyl persistent radical: A new reagent for direct, metal-free radical trifluoromethylation and polymer initiation

This review describes the discovery, preparation and properties of perfluoro-3-ethyl-2,4-dimethyl-3-pentyl persistent radical (PPFR). Novel areas of application of this new reagent for radical trifluoromethylation, trifluoromethylation/fluorination and polymer initiation are emphasized.
