Preparation and characterization of a composite coating composed of polycaprolactone (PCL) and amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) particles for enhancing corrosion resistance of magnesium implants

•Novel composite ACC/PCL coating was fabricated on AZ60 substrate by using dip-coating.•Composite coatings remarkably improved the corrosion resistance of AZ60 alloy than pristine PCL.•ACC/PCL coating helped to form the Mg3(PO4)2 layer with SBF immersion.
