Optimal Operation Of Aggregated Industrial Loads Coupled With Energy Storage System

With energy storage system (ESS) technology development and economic improvement, the investment cost of ESS has been greatly reduced. Therefore, industrial buildings with energy storage devices have increased. In this paper, we propose an optimal operation model through an aggregator that integrates industrial sites coupled with ESS. The proposed model consists of two parts. First, the aggregator receives the load information collected through smart metering and recorded in the database. Second, the aggregator integrates the load information and performs ESS day-ahead scheduling considering demand response (DR) to minimize operating cost. To achieve these objectives, two-stage optimization problem is formulated. The first stage uses load shifting/reduction and ESS operation to reduce the peak load. The second stage minimizes total electricity consumption through the remaining capacity after ESS operation in the first stage. The simulation model is implemented using actual Korean industrial complex data and developed by Python software.
