This work presents three dimensional laminar flow chaotic fluidic mixing via novel intra-channel microscale 3D structures - only made possible using high resolution 3D printing - fabricated into an entirely-3D printed modular microfluidic mixing device. These 3D micromixer (mu-mixer) structures generate passive chaotic advection in three dimensions to enhance mixing quality per-unit microchannel (mu-channel) length as compared to other state-of-the-art additive manufacturing-based 3D mu-mixer designs. Additionally, these 3D mu-mixers can be easily incorporated into any arbitrary 3D printable microfluidic device design, being fabricated along the mu-channel where efficient mixing is desired.
