Distribution of Antarctic toothfish Dissostichus mawsoni along East Antarctica: Environmental drivers and management implications

•Toothfish catches varied according to topography, temperature, salinity and sea ice.•Catch rates were highest at depths between 1000–1700 m.•Mean weight increased with depth and decreased with bottom temperature.•Proportion of mature fish increased with depth and decreased with bottom temperature.•Model predictions were used to identify potential nursery and spawning areas.
