To take advantage of first arrival traveltime, high accurate and fast traveltime calculation is essential. Eikonal equation is a kind of Helmholtz equation, which is derived from the wave equation. Tradition finite difference method can’t handle upwind singularities and large errors. Factored eikonal equation can avoid upwind singularities at the source point in traditional method. To improve accuracy, a third-order WENO based Lax-Friedrichs scheme is designed to compute accurate first-arrival traveltimes. A hybrid high order fast sweep method is applied to solve the problem that high order scheme reduced computing efficiency. Theory and numerical example indicate that this method could accurately calculate traveltime and through hybrid high order method, iteration number reduced significantly.Presentation Date: Wednesday, September 18, 2019Session Start Time: 1:50 PMPresentation Start Time: 1:50 PMLocation: 304APresentation Type: OralKeywords: traveltime, finite difference, modelingPermalink: https://doi.org/10.1190/segam2019-3215098.1FiguresReferencesRelatedDetails SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2019ISSN (print):1052-3812 ISSN (online):1949-4645Copyright: 2019 Pages: 5407 publication data© 2019 Published in electronic format with permission by the Society of Exploration GeophysicistsPublisher:Society of Exploration Geophysicists HistoryPublished Online: 10 Aug 2019 CITATION INFORMATION Dong Cui, Yujie Zhang, Ying Hu, Chunming Wang, Hao Shou, and Nan Qin, (2019), "Hybrid high order fast sweep method for factored eikonal equation," SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts : 3919-3923. https://doi.org/10.1190/segam2019-3215098.1 Plain-Language Summary Keywordstraveltimefinite differencemodelingPDF DownloadLoading ...
