Analysis of Missing Cloud Echoes in Atmospheric Duct

In order to analyze the phenomenon of missing cloud echoes of doppler weather radar in Dalian in July 25, 2006, the atmospheric duct is calculated by using the atmospheric temperature and humidity profiles measured at that time. According to the calculated atmospheric duct, the parabolic numerical equation model and radar cloud echo detection distance estimation method are used to analyze the reason of missing cloud echoes in atmospheric duct. It can be seen from the analysis that the appearance of the atmospheric duct will cause the radar to form radar hole at the top of the atmospheric duct, thus, cloud echoes are not detected, causing misjudgment.
