Cognitive deficits in older adults with psychotic depression: a meta-analysis

•Are cognitive deficits more pronounced in older adults with psychotic depression, compared to older adults with nonpsychotic depression?•Older patients with psychotic depression show more cognitive deficits on all cognitive domains, except for verbal fluency, compared to patients with nonpsychotic depression.•Researchers should be aware of the adverse influences not only of depression severity and advancing age but also of psychotic features in older patients.
