Mechanical behavior of high-strength bolts in T-stubs based on moment distribution

•The bending moment in tensile bolt attached to T-stub should be considered in design.•Three key factors were suggested and discussed for the bolt stress calculations.•New T-stub connector model and calculation method were proposed.
