•Multiterminal DC-link EVCS which reduces the EV charging impact on the LV grid.•EVCS allows sharing the EV charge between the upstream assets maximizing their use.•Novel voltage controller which considers the secondary substation LV voltage.•Improved active power controller including EVCS active power as a feed-forward signal.•EVCS experimental validation using a scaled-down LV distribution system.
