摘要

•Carbon dots were synthesized using cherry blossom flowers as carbon source.•They exhibited bright blue fluorescence and can be used as invisible fluorescent ink.•They can be quenched by several heavy metal ions, especially Fe3+ ion.•They were low toxicity to RAW264. 7 macrophages and used for cell imaging.
