•Heat transfer and pressure drop features of R1234ze(E)/R32 in a BPHE are measured.•Evaporation heat transfer of R1234ze(E)/R32 is analyzed according to composition.•Tested refrigerants are compared based on heat transfer and GWP regulations.•Nu and ftp correlations for R1234ze(E)/R32 according to composition are developed.
