Gender as a correlate of mobile phone communication pattern among telecom subscribers

Gender has been regarded as an important predictor of human behaviour. It this study, an attempt was made to examine the association between gender and mobile phone communication among telecom subscribers. A total of 384 (male =192, female 192) were sampled using a combination of stratified and purposive sampling techniques. The study tested four hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. In the analysis of data for the study, both descriptive and inferential statistics were used. The result showed that all the four tested hypotheses were accepted (p=<0.05). In particular, gender was found to have been significantly associated with mobile phone communica tion in areas like duration of mobile phone voice communication, length of text communication, purpose of mobile phone communication as well as form of mobile phone communication.
