Synthesis of stable aqueous colloid of functionalized silver nanorod

The aqueous colloid of mercapto ligand-functionalized silver nanorod was successfully synthesized by citric acid reduction method. The bigger silver nanospheres were preferably stabilizing in nanorod structure due to the presence of very high concentrations of both silver salts as well as mercapto ligand stabilizer. The properties and stability of the mercapto ligandfunctionalized silver nanorod in aqueous colloid was investigated from standard characterizations. These types of surface functionalization silver nanorod conjugated with various biomolecules have been considered as interesting probe in electrochemical bioassay with improved sensitivity, selectivity for biomedical application and clinical analysis purpose.
