How to regulate endocrine disrupting chemicals? Feedback and future development

To date, there is no specific regulation for protecting against endocrine disruptors (EDCs) in any part of the word. However, EDCs are now identified as hazardous substances that need to be regulated or even banned in different regulations. After having described the historical background leading to awareness and actions on EDCs, this paper will focus on the debate that took place on the definition and its consequences when defining criteria for identifying EDCs. It will focus on the level of data necessary to act, what is requested under some regulations taking EDCs into considerations and the available guideline to fulfil these requirements.
