Distributed Computing Column 75 The Splendors and Miseries of Rounds

This column consists of a position paper by Adam Shimi about the usefulness of the concept of rounds in distributed algorithms. It rst gives a survey of di erent ways of modeling rounds and then provides an extensive list of fascinating open questions, with particular emphasis on using and extending the Heard-Of model of Charron-Bost and Schiper.
