Fbg Smart Bolts And Its Application In Power Grid

A simple embedded-Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) based smart bolt is proposed to realize the bolt loosening monitoring with high accuracy in power grids. The calibration and experimental results in the application demonstrated its reliability. At the same time, the smart bolts installed at the connections of a transmission line and tower showed its capability of monitoring the transmission line galloping, which is also a concerned event in power grids.
